More than 400 Russian tourists have been stuck in the Turkish holiday paradise Antalya for days. A return flight is currently not possible because several Boeing aircraft, with which they had traveled despite the war-related sanctions against Russia, are defective.
Sanctions have also been imposed on Russian aviation over the attack on Ukraine. Still, the airline Red Wing transported tourists on vacation in Turkey. Now the technology on the planes is on strike. A statement from the Russian airline said on Tuesday: “Two of the three available Boeing 777s in our fleet are out of service for technical reasons and must be grounded.”
Heated atmosphere in a busy terminal
The departure hall in Antalya is overcrowded, hundreds of people have been waiting for departure in a heated mood since the weekend. However, the flights have been postponed several times without an official reason.
However, Red Wings has since announced that another aircraft will be chartered. Apparently this should initially get more holidaymakers from Russia and take those waiting on the return flight.
