Wild scenes played out in the Vienna Landstrasse on Sunday evening. Two young men repeatedly beat a victim after their brutal ambush failed. Shortly afterwards they fled. The police have since published police photos of the two suspects and are asking for further information.
At around 2 a.m., the two men demanded cash from a passerby at the Wien Mitte train station. When he resisted, they tried to use force to steal his wallet. Shortly afterwards, one of the suspects hit the victim with full force.
Search without success so far
The suspects then fled to the subway station. The victim immediately alerted the police. However, searches immediately after the crime were unsuccessful. The investigation into the case is on-going. Published police photos should provide further clues.
Witnesses who noticed the suspect before, during or after his escape are asked to contact the police.
