Duo climbed a tree, fled from a wild boar, then broke contact

Date:

It was not a lion that drove two German teenagers into the tree on Thursday evening, but the attacking wild boar also caused a considerable shock.

A special large-scale operation: around 1:25 am, the two teenagers (17 and 18 years old) called the emergency number in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany. A wild boar chased them and so they fled into a tree, hence the cry for help from dizzying heights.

But just as they were about to announce their exact position, contact was abruptly broken. The duo’s phone slipped from their hands. An extensive search and rescue operation followed.

Rescue workers searched from the air
According to the authorities, the two walked along a forest path at night – since there is a whole network of hiking trails in the affected area, the young people could not be located closer. The called fire brigade then expanded the search in the air with a drone.

Animals fled from the noise
In the end, according to the police, the two youths managed to warn the emergency services of their approximate location by shouting loudly. According to the information, the area was then more precisely demarcated and illuminated using the fire brigade drone.

The search caused such a commotion that the wild boars took to their heels, after which they were not seen again. According to the police, the two youths were able to climb out of the tree themselves after the animals left; they were unharmed.
