Tiger mosquito invasion – Half of Paris was sprayed, Vienna next?

The tiger mosquito is approaching: Insecticides to combat the aggressive mosquito have now been sprayed on large areas in parts of Paris for the first time. The species has also been native to Austria for three years. Will we soon be threatened with situations such as in France? The “Krone” has followed the trail of the vermin.

Blocked streets, frightened people barricade themselves in their homes, workers in protective clothing spray mysterious insecticides – a few days ago, scenes from a Hollywood movie were set in the French capital. It was an absolute first for Paris: for the first time in history, local health authorities had to chemically clean large parts of the two million metropolis. The reason: A man in the 13th arrondissement (district) was diagnosed with dengue fever.
