A tragic incident occurred in Germany on Monday. An 11-year-old got into her mother’s car, turned the key in the ignition, accelerated and ran over her mother’s boyfriend.
The incident happened in a courtyard in Wechingen, in the Swabian district of Donau-Ries, while the parents of the two girls were talking to each other. The 11-year-old sat in the driver’s seat of the parked car and turned the ignition key, police reported Tuesday.
Reverse gear was engaged
Since the reverse gear was engaged, the car reversed when the girl accelerated. Her friend’s 39-year-old mother was run over, who still wanted to try to get the key out. The car then collided with the house next door.
A rescue helicopter took the woman to a clinic with serious internal injuries. According to a police spokeswoman, there was initially no acute danger to life. The girl’s 12-year-old friend, who was in the back seat of the car when the accident happened, suffered minor injuries.
