The officials certainly did not expect that. Instead of stopping, a 20-year-old drove his car into the parked patrol car during an emergency check in Villach.
On Thursday evening, a police patrol from the police command of the city of Villach carried out a priority check in Maria-Gailer-Straße. “The service vehicle was parked at the end of a bus stop, where it was clearly illuminated by the public street lights,” said a police officer. As a car approached the city, the officers noticed that the car was not slowing down, but was getting closer and closer at a constant speed.
Fell asleep at the wheel
“The vehicle continued at a constant speed into the bus stop area towards the parked company car and, without braking, collided with the front right side against the left rear side of the company car,” the police said. The force of the impact threw the patrol car about four meters forward, but no one was injured in the accident. “According to the driver of the accident, he fell asleep at the wheel.”
At least one alcohol test was negative.
