Ukraine has begun exporting grain through ports in Croatia amid increasing Russian attacks on its Black Sea and Danube ports.
“Although it is a niche trade route, it is already very popular,” explained the deputy prime minister Yulia Swyrydenko on Thursday. “We are grateful for this opportunity.”
Ukraine is also interested in expanding it, as this logistical route is likely to continue to play an important role in bilateral trade between the two countries after the war.
Svyrydenko does not say how much Ukrainian grain has already been shipped through Croatian ports. During a visit to Zagreb at the end of July, Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba concluded an agreement to use Croatian ports on the Danube and Adriatic Sea for the export of Ukrainian grain.
Croatia wants to help solve war crimes
The Ukrainian news agency RBK Ukraina reports that Svyrydenko also agreed with Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic that Croatia would assist Kiev in investigating war crimes.
Because Croatia has experience with this. To this end, our own institutes and our own police force should be set up, among other things.
