Serious accident Thursday afternoon on the Brenner motorway near Innsbruck-Süd: Due to gravel lying on the road, a motorcyclist (71) lost control and collided with the crash barrier. The motorcyclist and his wife (68), who were sitting on the co-driver, fell and sustained injuries.
The devastating accident happened around 4 p.m. The 71-year-old Italian motorcyclist was entering the Brenner motorway near Innsbruck-Süd when he suddenly lost control of the vehicle. According to the police’s initial investigation, the cause was probably the crushed stone on the road.
Thrown from motorcycle
The motorcyclist, accompanied by his 68-year-old wife, then crashed into the guardrail – both were thrown from the motorcycle. The 71-year-old suffered significant injuries and had to be taken by ambulance to the clinic in Innsbruck after first aid. His wife escaped lighter with minor injuries. She was treated in the emergency room.
There was significant damage to the couple’s motorcycle. The Innsbruck-Süd motorway ramp had to be closed for approximately 30 minutes during the operation.
