Spectacular traffic accident Tuesday morning in the Tyrolean Oberland: A Dutchman (34) lost control of his car on the B180 Reschenstraße near Pfunds (Landeck district), after which it crashed into the city sign and then into a retaining wall. The force of the impact caused the car to overturn and land on its roof.
The serious accident happened shortly after 7 a.m. The 34-year-old Dutchman, accompanied by his girlfriend (29), was driving his car south on the B180 when he lost control near Pfunds, probably due to microsleep.
Vehicle ended up on its roof
“The car then crashed first into the city sign and then into the retaining wall there. The car then rolled over and landed on its roof on the road,” police said.
Both occupants were injured, the woman seriously
The driver and his passenger were able to free themselves from the wreckage. The 29-year-old suffered serious injuries in the accident; the man escaped with minor injuries. Both occupants were taken by ambulance to Zams Hospital after first aid.
The B180 Reschenstrasse was closed to all traffic in the vicinity of the accident site for about an hour.
