A third of all women suffer from pelvic floor weakness, often associated with incontinence. Although help is available, many affected remain silent out of shame or accept discomfort. The risk increases with age, but younger people are also affected: the muscle plate can be strengthened with simple exercises.
“I knew every toilet within a radius of ten kilometers,” says Sabine W, now 45. “The urge to urinate was often so extreme that I hardly wanted to leave the house, and my doctor at the time simply told me not to do that . so hysterical.” Only a change of gynecologist brought clarity: her previous pregnancy had led to pelvic floor prolapse. In the hospital, the mother of two was shown simple exercises with which she could specifically train this muscle plate, and after a while the complaints disappeared completely.
