On Wednesday evening, the Bay of Sevastopol in Russian-occupied Crimea was rocked by explosions. As the Moscow-appointed regional administration explained, a major fire broke out at the shipyard where ships of the Russian Black Sea Fleet were built and repaired. A Kilo-class submarine and a Roucha-class landing ship were reportedly destroyed, as reported on social media. According to Russian information, 24 people were injured.
About 10 explosions echoed through the city where Russia’s Black Sea Fleet is based, according to a report by Russia’s state news agency TASS. Razvoshayev blamed the Ukrainian army for the attack. His information could not initially be independently verified. Crimea’s Black Sea peninsula was annexed by Russia in 2014, in violation of international law.
Photos and videos of the fire at the port of Sevastopol were shared on X (formerly Twitter):

Meanwhile, a Russian drone attack on the port of Ismail was reported from the Ukrainian side. According to Ukrainian information, at least six people were injured. “Several groups of drones were fired at the Ismail district,” Oleh Kiper, governor of the Odessa region, wrote on Telegram. “Unfortunately, there were hits: the port and other civilian infrastructure were damaged.” The full extent of the attack is still unclear. There is currently no statement from the Russian side. The port is one of the most important grain export ports in Ukraine.
