Arrived by train – this time climate activists were stuck in Knittelfeld

Date:

On Wednesday, Last Generation activists took to the streets for the first time in Knittelfeld in the Styrian Murtal. “Because Nehammer and Kogler continue to ignore their own government program,” they said. The activists arrived early in the morning by train from Graz.

On Monday morning, at the start of school, members of the Last Generation struck simultaneously in three state capitals. In Graz, Linz and Innsbruck, there was chaos in early morning traffic, causing several traffic jams.

“Climate council continues to ignore”
“As the federal government continues to ignore the 93 recommendations of the Climate Council, citizens expanded their protests and today peacefully gathered on the road at the corner of Kärntner Straße and Schmittstraße in Knittelfeld,” said Last Generation spokeswoman Marina Hagen-Canaval.

25-year-old Vivien Breinbauer, geography student and student employee, is sitting on the street today: “In my opinion, the behavior of the federal government is grossly negligent: instead of taking its responsibility and insisting on sensible climate protection, the interests of major fossil fuel companies and the… “Hope for re-election still trumps protecting the public.”

According to the ‘Last Generation’, the protest in the Murtal is peaceful. The police are on their way to quell the protest. However, the experts must travel specially from Graz.
