For months there has been nothing but arguing within the Vienna Medical Association. At the worst possible time. Provisional highlight: fistfights and further complaints during the Curia meeting on Friday evening.
Friday evening Curia meeting of the local doctors of the Vienna Medical Association. After five minutes the situation escalates. The opponents: President Johannes Steinhart and his deputy Erik Huber. The former leaves the room with his followers and, according to Huber, holds his “own, illegal session”. There had been skirmishes beforehand.
Even arrest is looming
Huber speaks to the ‘Krone’ about a coup: “This is an act of desperation by an old man.” Huber also wants to know the reason: “I filed a statement of facts against Steinhart three days ago.” In it, he tells the prosecutor that immediate action would be necessary against Steinhart due to the risk of a blackout – including possible arrest.
Steinhart could not be reached by telephone for comment.
