Dangerous discovery on Thursday evening at a construction site in the Tyrolean Radfeld (Kufstein district)! What exactly this is is being investigated. However, it is probably a tank grenade. It is not the first discovery in Tyrol this year.
Big shock on Thursday shortly before 7 p.m. at a construction site at a house in Radfeld! A discovery of ammunition was reported to the police. The object – which resembles a kind of ‘steel bar with a point’ – is about 19 centimeters long and two centimeters thick and was heavily rusted and magnetic.
A percussion cap could also be seen on the ground. “The item was seized because it cannot be ruled out that it could be a wartime tank shell,” police said. Further investigations are underway.
Mortar grenade in the attic
In May, police found what they were looking for during a house search in East Tyrol. A 95-year-old local man had a World War I mortar shell stored in the attic of his apartment. The grenade was opened by the police mine clearance service at the time and classified as harmless war scrap.
