A dangerous operation took place in Reutte (Tyrol) on Saturday morning: the vehicle of a Serb (46) was on fire. The driver was able to get out of the car in time. It burned out completely. The cause is still unclear. A car also caught fire in Kirchbichl.
Fear for a 46-year-old Serb who was driving on the Fernpass road in Reutte shortly before 7am on Saturday morning. He noticed the smell of smoke coming from his car. A short time later his car was completely set on fire in the Katzenberg area. He was able to get out of the car in time and was unharmed.
“By setting up two extinguishing lines and extinguishing the fire by the respiratory protection teams, the flames were prevented from spreading to the nearby forest,” the Reutte fire brigade said. However, the vehicle was completely burned out, reports Commander Alexander Ammann: “The car was already completely on fire when we arrived. It is quite a journey from Reutte to get there.”
There was also a brief risk that the flames would spread to a nearby forest. Ammann said: “The car was parked near a car park and near a grass verge and the woods. That also burned due to the radiant heat. But we were able to remove that quickly. That wasn’t a big danger.” The Reutte fire brigade was on site with three vehicles and 27 emergency services.
A vehicle also burned out in Kirchbichl
The fire brigade from Kirchbichl (Kufstein district) had to be deployed on Friday afternoon. A car caught fire there during welding work. The vehicle could be removed from the carport with a forklift. A short time later, the Florianis were able to extinguish the car. No one was injured.
