A car mechanic died on Monday afternoon in a workshop in Vienna-Landstrasse. The 31-year-old was hit by a car that rolled off a lifting platform.
The fatal industrial accident occurred at 4:15 p.m. A vehicle was being placed on the lifting platform when the 31-year-old noticed the vehicle was moving. The man tried to prevent the car from rolling, but was unsuccessful.
Large contingent of rescuers on site
The 31-year-old was hit by the car and seriously injured. Immediate resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful. Several teams from Vienna’s professional rescue service were on the scene, but the emergency doctor could only determine that the man was dead.
The Vienna Labor Inspectorate was informed about the accident. A forensic autopsy was suggested.
