A moose roamed the Stockholm metro tracks on Wednesday, causing major damage. After operations finally had to be halted on the southern part of the busy route, game wardens arrived – and ultimately shot the animal dead.
The moose somehow managed to overcome the fence surrounding the tracks and then roamed the southwestern part of the so-called Red Line, all of whose stations are above ground. In the meantime, seven train stations had to be closed.
Attempts to capture him were unsuccessful
As the Swedish news agency TT reported, the moose wandered around for several hours, gradually increasing the number of closed train stations. The animal moved back and forth very quickly, after failed attempts to catch it or lure it out of the area, the moose turned and ran in the opposite direction.
He was shot at Vårby Gård station around 3 p.m., after which traffic slowly resumed. Videos from the newspapers “Aftonbladet” and “Expressen” showed the animal running along the tracks above ground.
