At least five people were injured in a knife attack at a school in Spain. A 14-year-old was arrested as the suspected perpetrator. Two knives were found on him, police said. The school was evacuated as a precaution, but the situation is now fully under control.
The incident took place on Thursday at a secondary school in Jerez de la Frontera, in southwestern Spain. A 14-year-old allegedly attacked and injured three teachers and two classmates.
Nothing is yet known about the reasons for the attack. The investigation has already begun, said the city’s mayor, María José García Pelayo. According to a police officer, the school was evacuated as a precaution and the situation was fully under control.

Ran outside in panic
A student told the newspaper ‘El País’ that in the middle of class around 8:20 am, the attacker suddenly took two kitchen knives from his backpack and stabbed a classmate sitting in front of him. He shouted: ‘I will kill you’. He then attacked students and teachers in his classroom and another. Everyone ran outside in panic.
“I didn’t know him well (…), but he was always alone,” said the girl. Many of his classmates constantly made fun of him. The girl knows the 14-year-old suspect as a very hardworking and intelligent student.
The student has already been arrested and could be charged with assault. According to Spanish media reports, none of the victims suffered life-threatening injuries. A teacher was injured in one eye and is currently being treated in hospital.
