The remains of a Russian drone may have crashed again in Romania on Saturday night. The army and civil protection are checking whether a corresponding tip from a resident of the town of Galati on the border with Ukraine is confirmed, as the Romanian Ministry of Defense announced on Saturday.
On Saturday evening, the population of Galati and the town of Tulcea, about 100 kilometers away, were warned of rockets. The Romanian army’s radar system had previously detected that there could be a violation of Romanian airspace because a missile approached Galati from Ukraine.
No remains of such a missile had been found in Galati as of Saturday morning, but the search continued, the ministry said.
Remnants of Russian Shahed combat drones have landed at three locations in Romania in recent weeks. Two of them crashed near the Danube village of Plauru, which is less than 500 meters away, directly opposite the Ukrainian port of Izmail, which is repeatedly attacked by Russia. The third location was a little further inland, near the town of Nufaru in the Danube Delta.
