“Demolition master” in Lower Austria! A Dutch gang is said to have blown up ATMs throughout Europe.
A huge bang in the silence of the night shook the thousand residents of Markgrafneusiedl in the Lower Austrian district of Gänserndorf, almost 20 kilometers from Vienna’s city limits, around 2:45 a.m. on Friday.
The bang could be heard for miles
The bang could be heard for miles and the force of the explosion was so enormous that neighboring houses were also damaged.
As it soon became clear, it was not a terrorist alarm, but the work of infamous ATM bombers! This time we focus on the local Raiffeisenbank.
Neighbor shocked
Gerald Neuhauser, who lives opposite the financial institution, is also affected: “I opened the window and saw that the street was full of rubble and that several men were just walking. The pressure wave tore my gate so much that parts of the ATM even ended up in my garden,” says the shocked neighbor during the local inspection of “Krone”.
Because the State Criminal Investigation Department of Lower Austria was already on the trail of the Dutch professional gang, which is active throughout Europe, three suspects were arrested after a short chase.
Gangs have been leaving a trail of destruction in Europe for years
The ‘explosion masters’ from the Netherlands have been leaving a trail of destruction throughout Europe for years. Dozens of coups, often in which not only the ATMs but also half the bank were blown up – without regard for human lives, as on Friday – are said to be the work of organized criminals. The three suspects are now being interrogated by detectives.
