After an armed man barricaded himself in an apartment in Melk (Lower Austria) on Friday afternoon, the Cobra had to move in with a large contingent. He is now in police custody.
The suspect had previously threatened two people with a weapon. He then barricaded himself alone in his house. Executive power was present on a large scale. The special Cobra unit and the rapid intervention group also arrived.
Threatened with a gas gun
The police have cordoned off a large part of the settlement. The operation was over in the evening hours. A gas pistol was seized, police spokesman Stefan Loidl said when asked. The man is accused of dangerous threats and coercion.
