In Schrems in the Waldviertel, an argument between two young people (14 and 16 years old) resulted in a bloody attack with a broken wine bottle. The younger of the two boys suffered stomach injuries and had to be flown to hospital by emergency helicopter.
On Friday evening around 9 p.m., a bloody confrontation among young people caused a commotion in the brewery town of Schrems in the Waldviertel. While countless football fans cheered on the championship match of ASV Schrems against St. Pölten, a dispute between two young people escalated not far from the sporting confrontation. The two boys, aged 14 and 16, had clashed on the fun track in the city park before one of them broke a wine bottle in anger and attacked his opponent as if in a rage.
The 14-year-old was injured in the stomach area by the shard of glass and had to be treated by an emergency doctor on the spot before being flown to hospital in a rescue helicopter. According to initial information, his condition is said to be stable. The cause and background of the dispute are currently still the subject of investigation. “The charge of grievous bodily harm is currently under discussion,” police confirmed in response to a “Krone” request.
Eyewitnesses are shocked
The incident did not go unnoticed not only by the kickers, but also by the dozens of football-loving spectators: “During the match, the emergency helicopter suddenly arrived. The referee wanted to interrupt. “The helicopter then landed on the nearby school sports field,” an eyewitness reports excitedly. The incident quickly spread through the Waldviertel community. Initially there was talk of a stabbing. The match continued unhindered after the match and ended with a 7-0 win for the home team.
