The week will be inaugurated by the Lehendakari and the mayor of Toshima, with a fusion concert of Basque-Japanese music and dance.
In addition to the activities organized on the occasion of the Basque Week, the program of the Euskadi delegation includes activities in the institutional, economic, university and cultural fields that will be developed until Tuesday, October 17.
Meetings are planned with members of the Japanese government, the governor of Metropolitan Tokyo, Fukushima (a region with which Euskadi has signed a memorandum of understanding), and with the mayors of Toshima and Hiroshima, the city where the Lehendakari will travel to visit the Peace Museum and make a wreath at the Victims Monument.
In addition, Urkullu will meet with officials from the universities of Hiroshima and Tokyo, and hold a meeting with students of Basque language and Basque culture teachers at the latter university.
