It is estimated that around 10,000 people could benefit from this. In April 2024, the new support will replace the rental subsidy that has been provided until now linked to the RGI.
The department of Basque government housing will facilitate one new aid of an indefinite nature to guarantee access social rent or, failing that, to the payment of a home rent on the open market for all those people who, due to their economic situation, do not see their subjective right to access housing fulfilled.
The executive power today approved in the Council of Government the decree regulating this right and which will enter into force after its publication in the Official Gazette of the Basque Country. The Minister of Territorial Planning, Housing and Transport, Iñaki Arriola, explained the details of this new benefit, as well as the requirements to apply for it. As mentioned, it is estimated that some 10,000 people could benefit from this (currently 8,200 people receive the supplementary Rent Allowance (PCV), linked to the RGI).
