A major fire broke out in a textile factory in the Czech city of Turnov on Wednesday night. According to initial information, no one was injured, but millions of dollars in damage was caused.
The fire struck two factory halls one after the other, the emergency services said, according to the CTK agency. Due to the danger, the highest alert level was declared. The fire was under control after several hours and the search for hidden embers is still ongoing. About 170 firefighters were involved in the extinguishing work.
Factory produces technical textiles
According to initial estimates, the material damage amounts to approximately 6.5 million euros. The company involved Juta produces, among other things, technical textiles for construction and agriculture, as well as artificial grass. Due to the heavy smoke, residents were instructed to keep windows and doors closed as much as possible.
