A tragic metro accident took place in Vienna-Donaustadt on Sunday evening. A 17-year-old was hit by a train. He died on the spot.
The metro had just left Aspern Nord station towards Schottentor when the 17-year-old was hit despite an emergency stop. All help came too late for him. The emergency services who were alerted were only able to determine the death.
Investigations are underway
According to the police, it is still completely unclear why the 17-year-old was on the tracks at Hausfeldstrasse U2 station at the time. The investigation into the case is ongoing. The U2 line was closed in both directions for some time.
