The country lives up to its reputation as the “Wild West”! In Dornbirn, a police officer was bitten on the thumb by an aggressive, drunk 25-year-old on Sunday evening when the officer tried to arrest the man. Two other officers were also injured.
On Sunday evening around 8:10 p.m., two Dornbirn Sulfur police patrols were conducting traffic checks on State Road 190 when a car stopped in a parking lot across the street. Four people got out of the vehicle. Two of them, a woman and a man, immediately started arguing loudly and the sound of a glass bottle shattering on the ground could be heard.
Police officers intervene
Police then switched sides of the street and approached the arguing people. A 25-year-old from Bregenz immediately shouted aggressively at the officer who intervened and tried to push him away. Because the man continued to approach the police officer despite warnings and did not calm down, he was arrested for aggressive behavior at 8:15 p.m.
1.4 per mille, suspected cocaine use
During the arrest, he tried to get away and bit a police officer’s thumb. The bleeding wound had to be treated at Dornbirn Hospital. In addition, two other police officers suffered minor abrasions during the suspect’s arrest. An alcohol test on the 25-year-old showed a value of approximately 1.4 per mille. According to the police, there is also a suspicion that the man may have consumed cocaine. After the investigation was completed, the man was taken to Feldkirch Correctional Facility.
