“People are angry” – Wagenknecht has a “serious offer” for AfD voters

Date:

According to former German left-wing politician Sahra Wagenknecht, not all AfD voters are ‘right-wing’. There are even many protest voices among them. She now wants to offer them an alternative.

“Of course there are many people who vote for the AfD, not because they are right-wing, but because they are angry, because they are desperate,” the former left-wing politician said in ZDF’s “heute journal” on Monday evening. ”. That is also one of the reasons why she and her colleagues are starting the new project.

Many people are angry about government policies and don’t know what to vote for. “Many have drawn the conclusion that, okay, if there is nothing else for the time being, we will vote for the AfD. We want to make a serious offer to these people,” says Wagenknecht.

“Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance”
The 54-year-old presented the ‘Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance’ on Monday together with several fellow activists. The expectation is that the association will lead to the establishment of a new party in 2024. Wagenknecht had previously resigned from the party together with nine other former left-wing MPs. The 38-member left-wing faction in the German Bundestag is therefore about to be dissolved.

The group of ten around Wagenknecht still wants to be part of the left-wing faction until the party is founded in January. Wagenknecht trusts in an orderly transition. “We must now do this divorce with decency and not throw dirt at each other,” she told ZDF.
