In custody after search – the nurse stole jewelry from an elderly woman (90) and fled

Date:

A 39-year-old Hungarian woman was particularly bold with an elderly person (90) in Zirl (Innsbruck-Land district)! She stole gold jewelry worth tens of thousands of euros and fled. A police investigation was ultimately successful.

As early as October 19, a 90-year-old Tyrolean woman from Zirl in need of care reported that her gold jewelry worth tens of thousands of euros had been stolen. The suspect was a Hungarian 24-hour nurse (39) who had been assigned to her a few days earlier. The suspected perpetrator took advantage of an opportune moment and left the apartment with the stolen goods.

Search successful
The fugitive, who has no permanent residence in Austria, was still located after investigation by the Zirl police station. She would have stayed in Völs. On Friday, officers were finally able to locate and stop a suspicious vehicle. During the check it turned out that the passenger was the suspected nurse.

Suspects in custody
“When the identity was subsequently established, the woman identified herself – as it turned out – with a foreign identity card,” the researchers say. The woman was eventually arrested and admitted that she had used someone else’s ID card. The 39-year-old is suspected of having committed several thefts during his work as a healthcare worker in Austria. She was taken to Innsbruck prison.
