A group of young people lured a robbery victim to the Mirabell Gardens at the end of September: the student was made to kneel in front of the attackers and kiss their shoes. Now the public prosecutor is filing charges. There are already two boys there.
“It was cruel and humiliating,” said attorney Kurt Jelinek, who represents the victim – a student. The teenager was lured to Mirabellplatz by a group of his peers and robbed. It happened on September 30 – now the Salzburg Public Prosecutor’s Office has Charges have been filed against three 15-year-olds, two 16-year-olds and a 21-year-old: three Austrians, a Serb, a Romanian and a North Macedonian.
Death threats with an iron bar
According to the complaint, the defendants first snatched a valuable necklace from the student’s hand. Then it resulted in several blows. A 15-year-old boy wrapped a chain around his hand and hit the student with serious consequences: a piece of a tooth broke off. The victim’s attempts to escape failed.
Earlier there was more violence: under death threats with an iron bar, the student had to kneel before the attackers, hand over his mobile phone, apologize and kiss their shoes. The defendants filmed all this and laughed about it. Ultimately, the victim’s nose was broken by a knee blow.
Arrests followed. During interrogations, the attackers allegedly covered up and downplayed the crime. A 15-year-old and a 16-year-old, both previously innocent, are now in custody.
