In terms of traffic, nothing has been possible around Bregenz since Tuesday afternoon. The reason: around 1 p.m., a truck driver driving towards Germany started to swerve on the A14, crashed into the road divider at the Bregenz exit and overturned in front of the Pfänden tunnel.
The fire brigade and rescue workers have their hands full on the Rhine Valley Motorway in front of the Pfände Tunnel. The truck driver, who was initially trapped in the vehicle after the accident, is now being treated at the Bregenz State Hospital.
Work is now underway to salvage the tanker filled with sugar syrup. Although the sweet mass did not end up on the road, the syrup still had to be pumped out and the heavy vehicle had to be rebuilt using a tractor.
The accident also tested the patience of road users. If you want to go to Germany, you have to go through the city area of Bregenz. Traffic is backed up on the highway and around the capital.
