A traffic stop is part of the daily routine of the police. It’s routine, really. On the night of All Saints’ Day, such routine activities in Klagenfurt got out of hand. The reason: an angry passenger who even injured officers.
The officers from the Annabichl police station had just carried out their checks in the city area on All Saints’ Day around 2:30 am and stopped a car for this purpose. While the driver of the car obediently complied with the police officers’ request, the passenger, on the other hand, was intent on rioting.
The 31-year-old immediately attacked police officers and tried to pull out the officers’ service weapons: the Glock 17. The drunken man from the Klagenfurt area was so aggressive that he injured three police officers, damaged a parked moped and an alcohol testing device.
Police officers overpowered the rioters
Only a few police officers eventually managed to use physical force to restrain the raging man and place him in handcuffs and ankle cuffs. The 31-year-old was taken to the Klagenfurt police detention center and charged with grievous bodily harm, resisting state authority and damage to property.
