An operation by the special unit Cobra and the Rapid Intervention Group (SIG) in the Igls district of Innsbruck caused a stir on Sunday! Apparently a Bosnian (40) had used an empty pistol. A shot was fired that could be heard throughout the city.
The police received several calls around 12 noon. Shortly before, numerous residents of Igls had heard a loud bang. The result was a large contingent of Tyrolean police. As usual in such incidents, the special Cobra unit and the SIG were deployed for safety reasons. Fortunately, the all-clear was given relatively quickly.
Used a blank pistol
When “Krone” asked about it, a police spokesman said that “a 40-year-old Bosnian man was handling his blank pistol on his balcony. Apparently there was a shot.” It turned out that the man already has a weapons ban. When searching the apartment, officers also found an air pistol. The 40-year-old will now be reported to authorities.
