Police in Lower Austria are hunting a man who allegedly tried to rape several women in the Gänserndorf district. Two phantom images and recordings from a surveillance camera have now been published showing that the ghost is being sought. Who knows the suspect?
On November 4 around 2 a.m., the man allegedly chased two women on foot over a long distance in Groß-Enzersdorf. The two women were able to escape to safety.
Women could make perpetrators flee
The man is also suspected of raping a woman at the bus station in Groß-Enzersdorf on November 5 around 6 a.m. Around 10:30 p.m. he attacked a woman in the entrance of an apartment building in Orth an der Donau. In both cases he knocked his victims to the ground. Both women were able to keep the attacker away through their fierce resistance.
Are there more victims?
The victims known so far are 18 and 19 years old. They suffered shock and one of the young women also suffered abrasions. The police cannot currently rule out that there are more victims.
The wanted man was between 25 and 35 years old, 1.70 to 1.80 meters tall and of thin build. The man has bushy eyebrows, a dark three-day to full beard and dark eyes. The stranger’s statement was described as clear and calm; he probably spoke standard German. He was wearing a hooded sweater and light-colored sneakers.
By order of the Korneuburg Public Prosecutor’s Office, a request was made for the publication of phantom images and photos taken from video surveillance.
All relevant information should be sent to the State Criminal Police of Lower Austria on 059/133-30-3333.
Please note: The foreigner may not be approached under any circumstances!
