After a spectacular coup in Upper Austria, the handcuffs clicked on three suspected burglars in the Balkans.
Brutal but imaginative: as the “Krone” learned, in September of the previous year, burglars took large loot as part of a Rififi coup in Schwanenstadt: the perpetrators broke into an office and then calmly made their way through the wall to the neighboring jewelry store.
The criminals, who were probably drenched in sweat, had all the time in the world to loot the store and fill their pockets with countless pieces of jewelry. With the loot reaching a significant six-figure range, the ‘moles’ likely escaped undetected via the same route they came from.
Special forces stormed shelters
After extensive investigation, the handcuffs clicked in Republika Srpska in Bosnia. The special unit stormed eight locations around Sarajevo and arrested three suspects. At least one of the criminals is said to have been present during the burglary in Upper Austria. The authorities assume that several coups will take place on red-white-red soil.
Especially since the attacks (in addition to an arsenal of weapons) also resulted in the confiscation of countless Rolex watches that had been reported stolen in Austria. Research into this is still ongoing. Two more suspects are being sought.
