Highway blocked – climate demonstration in Tyrol: woman got glue in her eyes

On Saturday morning, “armed” with posters and superglue, seven activists of the “Last Generation” suddenly rushed over a guardrail – as they did in June – and blocked the two lanes and the hard shoulder of the A13 towards Brenner near Matrei. Steinach. Soon there was a traffic jam that stretched for miles, sometimes reaching ten kilometers.

“We would like to reiterate the government’s negligent inaction on the climate crisis. Even the simplest demands, such as a ban on advertising for products that are particularly harmful to the climate or a ban on the destruction of food, are still ignored by the government,” complains spokeswoman Marina Hagen-Canaval (27) and announced a major protest on November 20 in Vienna. “For me, peaceful civil resistance is a more than legitimate means of putting pressure on the government. People are already dying all over the world because our government is too comfortable introducing baby measures such as a ban on the destruction of new goods.”

Even before the responsible district administration ordered the dissolution shortly before 11 a.m., an air conditioning installer suffered injuries to her eyes. The activist was probably sprayed in the face with super glue when a road user tried to carry her off the road. According to police, the woman was still able to cling to the asphalt, but had to be treated by the Red Cross afterwards.
