The eldest sister of former US President Donald Trump has died. Maryanne Trump Barry suffered a heart attack on Monday.
The TV channel ABC reported that emergency workers had been called to her apartment in the New York borough of Manhattan because of a heart attack.
Barry is a former federal appeals court judge in New Jersey. She was originally appointed in 1983 by former US President Ronald Reagan. She was then appointed an appellate judge in 1999 following a decision by President Bill Clinton.
She eventually resigned when investigations emerged into possible tax fraud by her father and siblings.
Sister about Trump: “Liar without principles”
Donald Trump was US president from 2017 to 2021 and plans to run for another term next year. Barry had made critical comments about him in recordings released in 2020, calling him a “liar without principles”.
The 77-year-old Trump – who does not know when he was president (see video above) – withheld comments about his sister. He initially made no comment on her death.
