12 meter deep fall – Rome: Austrian fell from Tiber Bridge – dead!

A 23-year-old Austrian fell to his death from the Ponte Garibaldi in central Rome on Monday afternoon around 6 p.m. After falling about twelve meters, he landed on a cement slab on the quay and died instantly.

All help came too late for the young man. It has not been announced which region in Austria the 23-year-old comes from.

The fall took place in front of dozens of tourists who were on the bridge at the time. A man raised the alarm, but emergency services arrived on the scene and could do nothing for the man.

Crash while trying to take a selfie?
The police have started an investigation. It cannot be ruled out that the Austrian fell from the bridge while trying to take a selfie.

The investigation has not yet been completed. It needs to be clarified whether suicide, carelessness or negligence of third parties were behind the fall.

Austrian suffered a stroke in St. Peter’s Basilica
On Saturday afternoon there was another “incident” in Rome involving an Austrian. An 81-year-old was in St. Peter’s Basilica when he suffered a severe stroke. The pensioner has now been allowed to leave the hospital again.
