A terrible accident happened in the municipality of Nenzing in Vorarlberg on Sunday afternoon. A four-year-old boy fell into a stream while playing and was dragged 1.7 kilometers by the current before being rescued from the water by rescuers. Despite immediate resuscitation efforts, the child later died in hospital.
The four-year-old boy played with relatives at Meng Creek on Sunday afternoon. The child fell into the water for unknown reasons and was swept away by the current. The family members immediately tried to pull the boy out of the water, but they were unsuccessful.
Notified rescuers were eventually able to rescue the four-year-old about 1.7 kilometers down the river from the Meng. The child’s CPR began just before the emergency helicopter arrived, which took the boy to the state hospital in Feldkirch.
The child died there little, however Hours later at the consequences of the accident. It is still unclear how and why the boy fell into the water. The police speak of a “tragic accident”.
