Livia Kwiatkowski is twelve years old. She enjoys drawing, and in her spare time she goes swimming and stays with friends. There they put on make-up, take selfies, chat – exactly what twelve-year-old girls do. Only one thing sets her apart from her friends: Livia has achondroplasia.
This congenital condition mainly manifests itself in incorrect positions of the bones and the fact that people affected by this disease only reach a height of 120 to 140 centimeters. But Livia and her family are not satisfied with that: she has been taking part in a study since 2021 – as a result, she grew a centimeter in the first year of treatment alone. This may not seem like much, but if this progress continues, adult height can increase quite a bit.
