Parents on barricades: – “Our children learn nothing in primary school!”

Date:

Families with four children are causing a big stir in Litschau in the Waldviertel. They want to send their children to the nearby primary school in the neighboring community. Although they would even bear the costs, they are denied this. Desperate, they turned to many places, but so far no one helped.

The children must even be able to sleep during lessons, otherwise they will run around excitedly. “And they fight with each other during school hours, and people watch,” said angry parents, painting a grim picture of conditions in a primary school class in Litschau. They have contacted the principal, school authorities, state politicians and the Ombudsman – but so far without a solution

Very happy with strict teacher
The parents were very satisfied with the strict teacher of the first year. She really should have gone upstairs with the kids. Investigation revealed that she was suddenly transferred to prison. There are allegations of bullying and she is on sick leave.

Montessori approaches
The new teacher relies partly on the Montessori approach, but these methods are a red flag for the families involved. “My child even forgot how to write his name! “We need to hire teachers,” says one mother. Access to another school is refused, even if the parents pay for it.

The authority did not answer many questions
The school inspectorate was called in and, even during unannounced inspections, education was carried out correctly according to the responsible authorities. Other parents would have confirmed this. However, the Lower Austrian Education Directorate left many other questions from the “Krone” unanswered.
