The police checked 168 motorists on the A1 and A10 this weekend. Four truck drivers tried to escape the police in a U-turn – in vain.
During their main check, the highway police wanted to check four Turkish drivers who were driving their truck. The men stopped at a turnaround and hid from the officers. The police found her anyway.
Other drivers were caught breaking the rules. Seven drivers were behind the wheel despite the weekend driving ban, eight were driving too fast. They are all shown. The police found defects in ten other vehicles and these drivers also received a report. Two drivers were under the influence of drugs and had to surrender their driver’s license on the spot.
Three Greek truck drivers transported freight that is not allowed on the highway this weekend. They hid the goods in the bed of the truck, police said. The priority checks on the West and Tauern motorways lasted from Friday to Sunday.
