The driver (35) whistled and applied emergency braking, but he could no longer prevent the crash: On Thursday evening in Aurolzmünster, a regional train collided with the van of a 20-year-old, causing the vehicle to be dragged 70 meters. The occupants of the train were very lucky.
The 20-year-old Hungarian from St. Georgen im Attergau drove over an unguarded railway crossing in Aurolzmünster. Despite the stop sign, he didn’t stop for it and looked out over the regional train coming from the right.
The driver, a 35-year-old from Eberschwang, applied emergency braking shortly before the collision and warned with a whistle. He was no longer able to prevent the collision: the van got stuck in the right buffer of the train and was dragged about 70 meters.
24 passengers on the train
Miraculously, no one was injured in the collision. The 20-year-old driver was able to free himself from his vehicle. And all 24 passengers and the driver of the regional train survived the accident unharmed.
The fire brigade then recovered the van with ten men and the Ried – St. Martin railway line was closed for two hours after the accident. Just a few hours earlier, as reported, a serious accident between a train and a car also took place in Burgkirchen.
