There is great consternation in Poland at the moment. A 14-year-old girl is said to have died after sitting outside in the bitter cold for hours.
As the PAP office reported on Friday, the child went to school on Tuesday, then called his father and said he was not feeling well – without saying where exactly he was. It then lay on the ground next to a supermarket and could no longer be reached by telephone.
Even though the store is on a main street, no one noticed the student for hours. The police have started a search. When the girl was found by a friend of her father around 1 p.m., she was already severely hypothermic.
The teenager died in a hospital in Krakow on Wednesday evening, PAP reported, citing police.

The teenager died in a hospital in Krakow on Wednesday evening, PAP reported, citing police.
“We are all shocked,” said Andrychow mayor Tomasz Zak. The city with approximately 20,000 inhabitants is located in southern Poland in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship. The temperatures there are currently below freezing even during the day. An autopsy should clarify the exact circumstances of the death.
