After his conviction, more trouble awaits Florian Teichtmeister. On September 5, the actor was sentenced to two years in prison for pornographic images of minors. Now the Burgtheater is making good on its announcement and is preparing a lawsuit for damages against the 44-year-old.
Lawyers and castle employees have spent a long time trying to accurately quantify the damage. Almost eleven months after Teichtmeister’s dismissal, the time has come. The theater had stuck with the actor even though the allegations had long been known in the industry, and only responded after the Vienna public prosecutor’s office filed charges against the ex-mime.
Tens of thousands of images depicting the abuse of minors, some accompanied by gruesomely sadistic texts, were seized from Teichtmeister during a search in August 2021. During the trial he said: “Yes, I am a pedophile.”
Burg: “No choice but to sue”
According to unconfirmed reports, the calculated damage would amount to around 76,000 euros. Consider, for example, canceled performances, newly printed programs or legal costs. The Burgtheater does not want to provide figures. The written views are currently being prepared.
However, the Haus am Ring opts for a strangely modest wording: “The Burgtheater has no choice but to demand compensation,” it says in response to a “Krone” question.
Teichtmeister must confirm the therapy in court
After his conviction, it became quiet around Florian Teichtmeister. The well-known former TV commissioner was given strict conditions for his probation during the trial by judge Stefan Apostol.
Every two months he must send all therapy certificates to the judge. This includes forensic psychotherapy, psychological treatment, probation assistance and confirmation of abstinence from alcohol and drugs, which Teichtmeister agreed to during the trial. To do this, he must undergo regular drug tests at a large clinic in Vienna. This reports the results to the court.
