Serious accident at work Tuesday morning in the Tyrolean town of Kühtai: A 38-year-old resident was working on a power plant construction site repairing a conveyor belt when a square piece of wood broke loose and fell about ten meters above him. The worker was hit in the head and seriously injured.
The local was repairing a conveyor belt that police say is located near a dam. “A jerky movement of square timber about two meters long, which had been clamped with screw clamps for work on the conveyor belt, dislodged from its anchorage on the counterweight,” police said. The logs fell ten meters, with one of them hitting the 38-year-old in the head.
To the hospital by helicopter
The worker, who was wearing a helmet, suffered serious injuries, according to police. After receiving first aid at the scene of the accident, he flew to Zams hospital with the emergency doctor helicopter.
