A 31-year-old Taiwanese man regularly takes his goldfish for walks. Jerry Huang has developed his own vehicle for this. With the closed aquarium on his buggy, the hobbyist takes the fish out into the streets of Taichung City. Why all this? He wants to offer variety to his pets.
People used to walk their dogs and cats, but now they walk with parrots, snakes and lizards, Huang said. This gave him the idea of offering “underwater creatures” a chance to explore their environment outside of their natural habitat.
Self-built goldfish buggy
The enthusiastic drone photographer assured that he had been talking about the idea for a long time. He did a lot of research before assembling his elaborate goldfish buggy from loose parts lying around in his workshop. It consists of a water-filled acrylic cylinder and a battery-operated filter and oxygen system mounted on a purpose-built carriage.
His vehicle was not “spontaneous inspiration,” Huang said. Rather, it was important for him to “understand the fish”. He chose goldfish as test animals because they were “robust” and “not particularly afraid” of humans.
Pisces can “discover other worlds”
Huang is confident that his fish will enjoy the adventure. “We all have the urge to explore uninhabitable exotic worlds. That’s why we send space shuttles into space,” he said, adding, “If I were a goldfish, I’d certainly be very happy if someone invents something for me to explore other worlds.”
