Large-scale social fraud has now come to light in Lower Austria: the perpetrator is already known to the authorities!
Apparently he couldn’t help it: in 2020, a Lower Austrian falsified hospital results and even posed as a doctor in order to retire early. If the social fraudster had not been exposed, he would have caused damage of 150,000 euros. He was then given a suspended prison sentence.
Falsified disability during probation
However, it was not a lesson for him. While still on probation, he tried to get a disability pension again by pretending to be 100 percent disabled. The man earned money at the AMS and secretly stole emergency aid and other social benefits. This includes a free highway vignette, exemption from parking fees and car insurance tax. The diagnoses that led to disability were of course also false.
Exposed again
Researchers from the SOLBE (welfare fraud) task force of the Federal Criminal Police have once again exposed the criminal and are now accusing him of twelve criminal offenses. The damage is estimated at 390,000 euros. The good news: The number of reported fraud cases fell by a quarter last year compared to 2021!
