Dead homeless people – 17-year-old murder suspect in custody

Date:

The 17-year-old who allegedly murdered two homeless people in Vienna is in custody. The decision is legally in effect until December 28, court spokesperson Christoph Zonsics-Kral announced on Thursday.

The reason for his arrest was the risk of committing a crime. A child and adolescent psychiatric report must make it clear whether the young person is healthy and therefore responsible at all. The public prosecutor, who is dealing with a violent attack by the 17-year-old on his own mother, spoke out in favor of this. In mid-September he broke several of her ribs.

From the perspective of lawyer Manfred Arbacher-Stöger, the 17-year-old is probably not guilty. During the detention hearing, the boy provided no information about the charges. It was said that he referred to his statements to the police.

As reported, the 17-year-old visited a police station in Vienna early this week and confessed to killing two homeless men with a knife last summer. He is also said to have seriously injured a woman without permanent housing. On Thursday, the Regional Criminal Court in Vienna imposed pre-trial detention.
