After the horrors on Sunday evening, in which a 27-year-old man bled to death in a knife attack on the street in Vienna, the suspect has now been identified. The 32-year-old was arrested on Wednesday.
After the incident on Sunday evening at Hernalser Gurtel, Viennese police launched a manhunt for the initially unknown perpetrator and also publicly searched for the taxi driver who allegedly took the victim and his partner to a hospital after the attack.
Taxi driver has reported the matter to the police
A man (44) then contacted police and said he was the taxi driver they were looking for. Thanks to the driver’s statement, investigators were then able to identify the suspected perpetrator by name.
Suspect (32) has not made a confession
The suspect is a 32-year-old man from Algeria. When he appeared at the Hernalser Gurtel police station on Wednesday for immigration reasons, he was arrested by the police. The 32-year-old has not confessed to the accusation. The investigation is ongoing.
